Anime Boston 2005 Summary


Friday-
This con was awesome. Friday I was theif Rikku From ffx-2 I was sad i got there late and missed the final fantasy photoshoot... which is why i had made my theif rikku costume too.. grrrr. Ohwell. I got myself acclemated to the Hynes and strolled around observing and trying to work on a photo project which i quickly realized wasn't going to get done. I was pleased to find however that the sheratan had a starbucks in the friggin lobby.. that made me uber uber happy. So after some roaming around and checking in and everything we decided to go eat. so me and my parents went to unos... well first we wandered boston for a little while till we found it, i stopped and took some great pics in my theif costume in this little like park way. It was fun. At uno's i got some funny looks, hahah and the staff complimented how cute i looked. the best part was on the way to the resturaunt some tourists stopped us and wanted to have their picture taken with me... IM A TOURIST ATTRACTION! ^_^ hahaha that made me so happy. When i came back to the con it was time for the amvs, there were a few good ones this year. in the middle of them my eyes were starting to hrut from my contacts so i heaed up to my room to pull out my green eyes and on the way back down this creepy fanboy like tryed to corner me cause i was alone and was talking about how we should hang out and crap.. it was kinda scary.. till my phone rang and i was like "MY PHONE! THAT MUST BE MY BOYFRIEND!!!!!" and ran away . As im answering my phone i get glomped from behind by this kid i had met earlier in the day who came up and asked for a hug. So the person on the other line of my phone hears me go "hel- AUUUGGGHH!!!! Whats GOING ON!? Oh hey guys... " hahahaha i then asked him to keep an out for creepy fan boy and help me out if he sees him trying to get me again. So it was like good i have a few people that can help me now if i get into a bind. i finished the amvs then went down to the videogame room and waited in line for ddr. turns out the guy next to me in line worked at another gamestop hahaha so we hit it off and were talking and stuff hahaha we were both just like "Whoa! NOT AH! You work for Gmaestop Too!?" after videogames i floated around in the lobby for alittle while. not wnating to go back to my room and not wanting to get in line for the rave cause the line was huge. Now in all of these wanderings there was some interest through out the day, there was a business conference in the same hotel aswell as a retirement getaway thing all on the same weekend. BWAHAHA i alsmot wandered into a room full of well dressed old people looking for con events hehehe. I would have till an old man stopped me and was like "the anime thing is that way" haha and pointed me in the right direction, him and his wife were nice tho and asked me about my costume and character and told me they thought i had a great outfit. After all the excitment of the day was over i headed back up to my room. ^-^

Saturday-
Saturday woo, i got up faiirly early on saturday. I had to get up earlier due to the fact that I had forgotten safety pins, which are key for my songstress costume, its how i close the front of it actually, not because im lazy but because believe it or not the way i did things safety pins were the only things that did the job right. Anyway since i forgot those I had to wake up early and have my mom stitch me into my costume, this was a simple lacing done with thread, covered by my tie, the way i did the costume theres a slit in the front that the tie covers, thus no zipper lines because of my safety pin system. Anyhoo, it took my about 2 hours to get myself completely dressed, i mean i had to do hair, make up, costume, and secure the ribbon straps onto my legs and arms with double sided sticky tape. After all that mess i was finally dressed, grabbed my artbook and headed downstairs, first to starbucks (my precious starbucks) to start my day off right, then to the masquerade headquarters to check in and get judged. Judging was awesome. It went so well, way better then my experiances last year with it. These judges were really nice and polite. I walked up to them fully energized and told them everything i had done for this costume, the hours upon hours of work, the graident spraying, the month of tanning every other day, the colored contacts, the hair dyeing to match the extensions. Everything. They seemed impressed and said things like "great attention to detail" and "great job" and seemed impressed, they each even gave me hall cosplay votes, 3 judges, and i needed 3 votes to geta ribbon so boom right out the door i had my hall cosplay ribbon. I was shocked and super pleased... Uber excited tghat it went over so well ^-^ After this i ran into Ben and walked around nwith him for alittle while. I felt bad cause i kept getting stopped for pics. I didnt realize how popular i'd be hahaha cause i got stopped evey 3 feet. It was awesome tho. Eventually i split off from ben to go in search of safety pins to adjust my gloves with, as i was heading up with them to my room i ran into Lauren and Jeremy and she helped me get situated and adjsuted and i walked around with her for a good part of the day, she was gun mage yuna and we were swarmed more for pics. I bought Chris a transformer giraffe ... A TRANSFORMER GIRAFFE... i saw it and was like "OMG.... MY boyfriend would love this.... especailly after seeing the book his friend has on how giraffes come from another planet and are evil" he did end up loving it, but none of us could figure out how to get it into robot form haha so it sits in his living room above the tv in giraffe form now being malested by an evangelian robot. Anyhoo, i headed up to watch the anime dating game at 2:30 and it was funny, loved the siefer and squall feud ^-^. After that I had to head up to my room to freshen up for the masquerade, i stripped my gloves off and redid my make up, brushed my extensions, primped, ate, peed, got all situated then ran down to the masquerade head quarters for 5.
Masquerade-
Now here my friends is where i aquired the random Vash. You see my and a Lulu were standing and talking with another girl and this Vash, this very same vash who i had run into the day before and offered to save me from scary asian stalker guy shows up. And he's like "whoa! I know all of you thats awesome!" and we were all having fun jopking around, then we hear how long the masquerade line is and he was like "oh crap i dont wanna wait in line" turns out he wasnt in the masquerade heh so he yells out asking if anyone needs another person for their skit so i smiled evilly and was like "rikku and vash dancing to MC Hammer" and we decided we liked that idea, and so we did that. We sucked up to staff and got it approved 5 minutes before going in for back stage seating for the masquerade bwahahaha. Our act went together 3 acts before we were supposed to be on, practicing with our dancing, stage kiss, and of course slapping. I'd like to think it went over great, it was real fun to do. II walked out first and was dancing all cutesy and stuff , then a few seconds later vash pops out from behind a curtain compeltely unannounced sending the audience into uproar he looked at me dancing then commenced with the MC shuffle and party boying. I look over
and get annoyed cause this Vash is ruining my cutesy dance so i walk over to the corner of the stage and start to pout, he looks over at me stops dancing, and walks over, dips me and does a fake stage kiss, his back to the audience so they couldnt see thta indeed our faces were like a foot apart haha, after he pulls me back up i slapped him and pointed like "no no!" at him , he looks at the audience and screams "LOVE AND PEACE" and then runs away, me chasing close behind like im gonna kick the crap out of him. it was alot of fun, and i think ppeople enjoyed it. Now the story would end herre but, guess what.. I WON AN AWARD! thats right, me! I won first place craftsmenship in the novice devision. I was stoked. when i went on stage to accept my award I broguth the vash with me, more particularly i dragged him on stage by the neck, as soon as we got out there the audience just erupted and so did the MC hahahahaha she thought it was great, i looked at the audience with a coy little smile and announced proudly over the mic, "I caught him" heh then he shuffled off stage and they commenced asking me details about my work on the costume, i appreciated the gasp from the audience when i announced that the skirt alone took like 10 hours of pleating.
After the masquerade me and Vash or Dustin as he is normally known heh ^-^ were swarmed for pics, we did our little victory walk about the con posing for pics for people that liked the skit, we had our cutesy vasha nd rikku arm in arm pose and then we had our slap pose, we gave people the otpion of which they'd prefer to commemorate ^-^ hehehe it was fun. Afetr we went to the rave which I had promised Dustin i would go to, to celebrate my win. We had a good time dancing, there were conga lines and i even ran into two guys that are regulars and semi friends from the store i work at haha so i jumped back and forth between dancing with Dustin and them. Thanks to everyone who noticed the funniness of rocking a songstress costume at a rave! heh ^-^ I hung out there for like an hour, at the end Dustin walked me up to my room to keep the fanboys away which was really nice, after the masquerade he had to like scare off a scary stalker fanboy that had been creeping me out all weekend. So thanks Dustin You made my night a blast! I went into the room, de costumed, and called Chris at like 1 am to tell him all about my win and everything, he was super proud ^-^ and still is hehe. So are my parents they were all sorts of proud! After the long day of pics and con antics i was bushed and just dropped, super sore from all the standing and disco pointing ^-^

Sunday-
Is it over yet? Not yet friends! Sunday i rocked the theif rikku costume again, i was gonna wear moogle but realized it didnt fit so great anymore and looked kinda dumb on me now so i wore theif. I started my day in the dealers room to do my shopping and was shortly joined by Dustin who tracked me down via cell phone. Today he had a sword which later lent itself to fun antics ^-^ We shopped around and ran itno Sketch who was shopping around too with a friend of his, we had been yapping with him during the masquerade the night before (AWESOMNE SKIT AND COSTUME SKETCH). I bought many things. I bought a chobits artbook, a japanese fashion book, a chocobo, a shirt with cats as sushi on it, and then i was out of money, It was really nice though cause i had to choose between j-pop (i wanted the koda kumi cd) and my japanese fashion mag and chobits artbook. I chose the artbooks and then Dustin pops out of nowehre, with a koda kumi CD, not the same one with the X-2 mix on it but it had some good tracks, he picked it up for me and was like "its your birthday/christmas/whatever other thigns u get presents for " and i was like "oh i dont celebrate any of those" and he was like "meh congrats on a good masquerade cosplay" and refused to take it back it was sweet of him so thank you once again Dustin for the pocky and the fun j-pop CD! After the money was exhausted, we strolled the con cause theres nothing to do on sunday morning, so we talked to people and strolled. Did a whole behind the scenes "illegal" pocky search but they were out heh like going on a drug deal though heh it was super funny. We caught up with jeremy and lauren and well went back to the dealer's room. for alittle while we all walked around with our arms around eachother, the line went Dustin, Jeremy, Lauren, Me ... somewhere in there Dustin picked up a random stranger and he walked with us two. We all got lunch after roaming the dealers room. Me and Dustin got antsy and took sword pics ^-^ we got a random guy to take a picture of me chasing him with his sword, and then i actually chased him through the artists alleyway (long hallway) with it, he was like 3 feet in front of me, i was behind him sword in air, screaming things like "ILL GET YOU!!! COME BACK HERE THIS'LL SHOW YOU FOR STEALING MY DONUTS!!" well.. i had to yell somehting... people took noticed and started yelling go rikku hehehe and i caught him at the end of tyhe hallway, cut him down with his sword and the stood with my foot on his chest in triumph, people ranover for pics, and i have later foudn a picture of me holding the sword up to his throat on a random website with the caption of "seriosuly, dont piss off rikku!" hehehe we went back to eating and i ran back into bobby and john who i knew from my store, we allw alked up to cosplay chess and i had to say buy cause Dustin had to go. The 3 of us watched that which was funny. After that i was talking to Sketch who had been vash from cosplay chess and peopel ran over and asked for pictures of rikuk and vash together hahahaha I staretd a thing... of Rikku and Vash in a combo! Score im super happy it caught on hahha at one point someone walked by this photo op and was like "geez what is with rikku and vash at this con? they dont even go together,.." I was like "SCORE THAT WAS MY SKIT I STARTED IT! ^_^" after that i went home, end of a really fun con. It was awesome. Thank you everyone who made this con so fun for me!
