Materials You Will Need: 1. Styrene Sheets, They make all kinds of styrene with different thicknesses and what not
and some is see through and some isn't, though its rather easy to tell which ones are and arent when you find the section
for it, and with in that styrene comes in different thicknesses which one you decide to use is really preferance, if you get
a sturdier piece it will be more substantial but harder to see through so really thats your choice as to how you prefer things
^-^ 2. More Styrene! - K that sounds cheesy but im referring to Styrene tubes, they make these also in different sizes
and thicknesses, they make squared strips of it that makes a great rim for the bottom of your visor (or top depending on which
one your doing really, Im referring to rikku's in this particular tutorial). Thats another size prefrence, you know you wanna
see what looke about right to you. 3. Paint - Not just any old paint, when you go to the store ask the people there for
aint and TELL THE WHAT YOUR DOING. I'll post what kind I used a little later but for now Im working from school so I have
nothing infront of me to look at. Explain to them you need some of it to be see through and some of it doesnt matter, and
it needs to be compatible with styrene and what not. 4. Glue - This is another thing you need to ask for because theres
a specific glue which bonds the styrene together by doing weird chemical melty things and binding it to it to make it stay.
Aski the peole for a glue that will be good for what your doing. 5. Scissors or A Razor Blade - The razor might work best
as moving scissors around the styrene can cause it to crack a little. 6. Craft Foam Or Sculpey Depending on what you'd
like to make the antennas or wings out of.
7. Paint for said foam or sculpey ^-^
Step One: Can You Believe Your Finally Starting?
Hokey, you've got your materials and your ready to go! Do you like your shiny new styrene? ready to get going? OKay then
sorry Ill stop delaying the actual instructions. ^-^ First you wanna cut your shape into your styrene. You may want to do
a few practice layouts on a piece of paper, this is gonna be your main part of the visor that huge see through part, if your
working in rikku's case you wnat it to almost resemlbe a pair of upside down sunglasses. (Remember I said almost as sunglasses
end ratehr abruplty and you want the part from the curve in her's to be a rather gradual slope to the edge of the styrene.)
Pretty much you want things to look right to you here, dont be afraid to be a dork and cut out ur test paper and put it in
front of ur face to see if it works, because your not going to be able to change this later, make sure you've got the right
distanes in relation to your eyebrows and nose and all that stuff but keep in mind you will be adding a little bar to the
bottom or top of this thing so that will take some slight room aswell. Now then when you've got your idea ready cut it out
with your razor blade, scissors work too though the moving of the scissors in some of the smaller details will crack the styrene
alittle.
Step 2: Bending Your Styrene Bar
Remeber thats small bar you bought? the thick one that just wont bend and has to be the rim of your visor? I know your
thinking "This is gonna break if I try to bend it! What the crap Sarai! Your tutorials Suck!" But ah my friend you
are incorrect. Take that bar over to your bathroom sink friend and heres what your gonna do. Run some hot water, Use discretion
here, don't burn your wittle hands, but et it as hot as u can without burning yourself, this is a good measure cause A) it
wont hurt you and B) If its hot enough to burn u its hot enough to start melting the styrene and we dont want that. Fill your
sink up. Now put your styrene bar in the water, hold it there for alittle while, is it nice and warm? If so try giving it
alittle bend very carefully, dont force it. Did it bend for you? If no turn ur heat put alittle, dont burn yourself, and let
it sit alittle longer, If yes bend this sucker into shape, remeber its semi round I found bending mine into a mix between
and V and a U worked it was rounded and looked right and would fit my face. Dont be afraid to over bend it, and what not that
will be good as when you take it out and its drys well it trys to decurve itself, what you do here is secure it into its shape
somehow and let it dry like that for like a day or so, the longer it sits the better trained it will be. I secured mine using
an old scrunchie which held it well (The scrunchie pretty much made an X across the the visor and held in a few points) you
can use an elastic, a scrunchie or if you feel like tape it to somthing in that shape and you think the tape will hold a few
days then go for it.
Step 3: Paint is fun Especially when its translucent!
Paint Time ^-^ This is both the fun and annoying part. Now you have your paint right? Ready to spray it on? Alright do
your rim bar first, remeber the one you just bent a few days ago? Spray on your desired color and let it sit, be aware your
gonna have to do a few sprays on this one to get it right from different angles ^-^ Now then do your visor, You got see through
paint right? I hope so! Spray it on to one side, doesnt matter in a thin layer, just do enough to get it covered and then
STOP, if you layer this up to much you will not be able to see out of these things. Just get it covered alittle goes along
way, and all that jazz. Let this stuff dry a little while, and reapply paint as nessesary, though if its on the see-through
part it better be absolute or leave it.
Step 4: Your Wingy Things
Im not sure what else to call them really, there the little antennas or wings that stick off the sides of the visors
and just look neato and sci-fi ish ^-^ well clal them what you like your gonna have to make them. You can do this with Foamy
stuff, you know the cheap craft foam people use for Chi Ears, that would work very well and its light, just paint it with
the desired color and all that jazz to make it look like not foam. Or you could do this with Sculpy and paint that. This part
is pretty much just mold it or fold it to however you like, paint it and finish them so there ready to be glued on when everything
else goes together. Let your artistic talent pzown you and take over on this step ^-^
Step 5: Putting it all together
Its simple really. Glue the see-through part to your rim with ur fancy pants styrene glue. just use alittle you know,
take the seethrough part hold it to the rim where you want it and brush a line of glue along that seam and see how it holds.
Look its almost done how lovely. Then you take ur Wingies and glue those on with either tacky glue or your styrene glue
whichever you think will work best. Make sure everythings even on both sides and all that jazz and oh let it dry huzzah!
Step 6: Okay Smarty how do you wear it now?
^-^ this is my biggest problem with my visor tutorial in that it gets very ghetto hacked here! In rikku's case i just
tucked the edges of the visor under the bandana to hold it in place, though if your doing yuna or paine you cant do that,
however since the rim of the visor is hollow you slide some string through there and tie it around ur head in the back, be
sure to hide it under ur hair! ^-^
